Stripes are Quintessential in Hamptons Interior Design

Stripes Styled By You

When designing a Hamptons home or space, your colour palette may be primarily neutral, but the accent patterns create visual interest.

Stripes are an idyllic pattern to integrate into Hamptons design.  Stripes also evoke that classic, preppy and coastal concept of Hamptons design.

Ticking stripe fabric has long been used for its utilitarian benefits, but in the 1940s, it became iconic in high-end interior design thanks to Sister Parish. She started introducing the striped fabric in New York City sitting rooms, and now classic designs often still integrate it.

The great thing about stripes in design is that they don’t have to be all-or-nothing. You can incorporate them in subtle ways for a big impact.

For example, you can use striped pillows, throws, or maybe have a pair of upholstered chairs in a stripe pattern.

Ticking stripes and striped fabrics, in general, are versatile and can help you bring a sense of refined balance to a room.

We have a great selection of striped items, whether you want to start subtly or go for maximum impact. For example, several of our lampshade options come in stripes, as do our cushions.

If you want a more impactful introduction of stripes into your coastal or Hamptons-inspired home, browse our rugs and furnishings like our gorgeous rugs and our ever-popular blue-striped linen roll-arm sofa.

It’s not just versatility in the striped fabric but also in how you can use the fabrics that makes them so perfect in this style of furniture.
