PATTERN OF THE MONTH: STRIPES
Stripes tend to create the illusion of space: vertical stripes make ceilings look higher and horizontal ones make rooms appear wider, so they are perfect in spaces that are quite compact. Using vertical stripes in an already large room accentuates the ceiling height and expansive nature of the space.

We decided that stripes are so integral to Hamptons design that we should make this beloved, classic pattern our colour of the month.
Stripes can instantly evoke the things we love about coastal design. They’re simple but impactful, so why not celebrate this nautically-inspired design detail?
Stripes feel fresh but still maintain a traditional coastal look and feel. It’s not just versatility in the striped fabric but also in how you can use the fabrics that makes them so perfect in this style of furniture.
You can use a striped pattern essentially anywhere, and it’s an excellent way to use patterns without having them feel chaotic or breaking away from the elements of Hamptons design that we all love.
Some of our favourite items are available in stripes, including lampshades, rugs, and bedheads.
We have furniture with striped linen including some of our armchairs and sofas but a very popular piece is our Striped Linen Bedhead.

We also have a large selection of cushions with different stripe patterns in blue, navy, natural. green & red.
Using stripes allows you to layer your design scheme giving yourself structure that can contrast with other features in the room whether it's other designs, colours or patterns.
The great thing about stripes in design is that they don’t have to be all-or-nothing. You can incorporate them in subtle ways for a big impact.

Stripes can be a versatile and playful addition to any interior design scheme. Have fun experimenting with different ways to incorporate them into your decor.
Whether it be in a statement piece or in smaller layering pieces such as cushions. Don't be afraid to mix and match different stripe patterns and colors within a space. Just be sure to keep the scale of the stripes consistent so they don't compete with each other.
